2157 Golf Course Drive is the Undisputed Jewel Among Reston homes in Golf Course Square

The growth in Reston and the additional of the new Metro Silver Line connecting Reston to the entire D.C. Metro area by rail, has focused much more attention to neighborhoods close to the new Reston Silver Line.

An under appreciated and undervalued neighborhood is the area surrounded by the Reston National Golf Course called Golf Course Square. Built in the 1970’s, Golf Course Square is a collection of 200 town homes of various degree of updates. The location is superb, a mere mile from the new Wiehle Avenue station, and two miles from the Reston Town Center. The residents living on Golf Course Drive, for the most part, take great pride in the open space and eco-friendly environment of the neighborhood.

2157 Golf Course Drive is offered for $499,000. A contract was immediately submitted by an investor who realized the great value of the home and location; however, his personal circumstances did not permit him to move forward, so this home is back on the market. I am the listing agent, I know the Golf Course Square community very well, and this particular home better than that.

There are other listings in the area which are priced below this spectacular home. However, they are on the flip side of a market which I categorize in one of two camps: 1) very well renovated homes with many modern conveniences, such as 2157 Golf Course Drive. These homes often have $75,000 and more in major upgrades (2157 has $100,000 in upgrades) and sell near $500,000. The last two sales of such properties in the neighborhood were for $499,000 and $493,000, and I believe that 2157 Golf Course Drive is actually a better show piece with a better location within the community. 2) homes which are not nearly as upgraded, if at all, and which show “their age”. These homes can be purchased at $425,000 to $450,000. The cost of upgrading them to the standards of the homes in the first example would make the more expensive purchase the much better “value”.

2157 Golf Course Drive also backs to community open space. No homes, no streets, no golf carts in your back yard. Simply open and beautiful open area. One of seven Reston community pools is only 100 yards away, as are the tennis courts . This home is the jewel of the existing listings, and one of the jewels in the entire neighborhood.
